MKTE Kenya 2026

Where meaningful trade connections begin.

Kenya’s travel industry has officially begun the countdown to the 16th edition of the Magical Kenya Travel Expo. Taking place from 6 to 8 October 2026 at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, MKTE Kenya 2026 will once again bring the international travel trade together in one of East Africa’s most important tourism marketplaces.

The journey began with the MKTE 2026 Partners’ Breakfast Launch in Nairobi, where government agencies, tourism associations, destination partners and private-sector leaders gathered to set the direction for the year ahead.

This year’s theme, “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the Future of Tourism,” places innovation firmly at the centre of the conversation. From data-led destination marketing and digital payments to immersive technology and smarter travel planning, the programme will explore how technology can help African tourism businesses compete, connect and grow.

But behind the technology, MKTE remains a people-driven event.

Where meaningful trade connections begin

MKTE creates a focused space for international buyers, exhibitors, tourism boards, accommodation partners, airlines, tour operators and destination management companies to meet face to face. The 2026 event is expected to welcome more than 10,000 delegates from 40 countries, over 400 exhibitors and more than 250 vetted international buyers.

Alongside the exhibition, the programme will include scheduled business-to-business meetings, industry seminars and familiarisation trips. These experiences allow buyers to move beyond the brochure and gain a better understanding of Kenya’s destinations, products and on-the-ground capabilities.

Kenya’s MICE sector will also take a prominent place in the 2026 programme. Speaking at the breakfast launch, Kenya MICE Association Chair Duncan Muriuki highlighted the importance of attracting high-value business events and creating strong destination incentives. Nairobi and Mombasa offer a compelling combination of conference infrastructure, international connectivity and opportunities to extend a business trip into a wider Kenyan experience.

Why MKTE matters to the travel trade

Kenya is far more than a single safari circuit. It is a destination of extraordinary contrasts: Nairobi’s energy, the wildlife of the Maasai Mara, conservation-led experiences in Laikipia, the landscapes of the Rift Valley and the Swahili culture of the Kenyan coast.

For travel professionals, MKTE provides direct access to the people who make these journeys possible. It is an opportunity to develop supplier relationships, discover new products and build itineraries with partners who understand the destination in detail.

For Destination Africa, that local knowledge is where good travel planning begins. Our Kenya team supports travel advisors, tour operators, group organisers and incentive planners with tailor-made FIT, group and MICE travel throughout Kenya and East Africa.
