Discover Zimbabwe’s best safari destinations

This 12-night trip visits Hwange, Matusadona, Mana Pools, and Gonarezhou national parks. This trip’s highlights include game drives, nature walks, and horseback safaris in Hwange National Park’s sand dunes, savannah, and mopane woods. Matusadona boat safaris around Lake Kariba offer animal watching. Mana Pools’ richness of wildlife is due to the Zambezi River’s life-giving energy. Gonarezhou National Park near Mozambique is noted for the Chilojo Cliffs, which soar over Runde River Valley. This Zimbabwe trip includes classic safaris and luxurious stays in bush lodges and tented camps.

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest reserve and home to giraffe, lion, zebra, 40,000 elephants, and endangered animals including wild dogs. From The Hide, you may enjoy wildlife drives, guided walks, and horseback safaris in the park.

The hidden watering hole is a highlight. You’ll stroll down a tunnel to a “window on the waterhole” to see wildlife up close. Along the same tunnel is a wine cellar with great wines from throughout the world.

Matusadona National Park, in northern Zimbabwe on Lake Kariba, with various scenery and rich game. The lake’s grassy beach forms the park’s northern limit, allowing for boat safaris. From game drives to walking and fishing safaris, you can see lion, leopard, hyena, and cheetah along the shoreline. Hippos, crocodiles, and 350 bird species are prevalent.

Take a boat across the lake to Sanyati Gorge to wander among the sheer rocks.

Mana Pools National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Zimbabwe. The Zambezi River’s life-giving energy ensures a multitude of animals for outstanding game watching. As Africa’s only wild walking National Park, guided treks are a terrific way to see the park’s riverfront woodlands.

Canoe expeditions reveal the area’s splendor (offered year-round). Game drives, river cruises, birdwatching, catch-and-release fishing, and dinosaur trace hunting are also popular. Dine among herds of buffalo, witness a pride of lions, and sundowner with hippos on the Zambezi River.

Gonarezhou National Park is near the Mozambique border. Gonarezhou means ‘place of elephants’ and is Zimbabwe’s second-largest national park.

Picnic at Chilojo Cliffs on the Runde River is a highlight. Tembahata and Machanu Water Pans offer unmatched birdwatching. Hiking to Chivalila Falls is a terrific way to start or end the day.
